Upgraded to SBM 12, having autopass issues, switched to Eval License to get up and running... Can I come back to eval if I test autopass?

Hello,

I've had issues getting my Test system upgraded from 11.7.1 to SBM 12.

Upgraded my test system and ended up with  autopass running on eval. Still had issues and had to do a reinstall, that blew away the eval license. Not a problem, it was my test/development server.

Now I've upgraded Production and installed Autopass on the same server. Things went better but it was not flawless. I was forced to use the eval license. I'm working with support and I have a few ideas as to the cause of the problem. I think I am using the wrong type of license, an external license when I should be using a concurrent license.

So, what will happen when I try a new uploaded license and switch off of the eval license? Once I leave the eval license will it let me back in if I still have concurrent license issues?

SBM runs off of piv and it also authenticates Dimensions CM, so, if I screw it up in Prod 300+ people could be sitting on their hands. I can't have an outage.

Is the eval a one shot deal or can you come back to it in the configurator?

Thanks,

Will Powell

    Will,

If your test system is running SBM 12, make sure you have 12 Patch 1.  Make sure that your licensing is working with the test server.  When this works, then you schedule time to fix production.

I have applied the 12 Patch 1... Although perhaps not gracefully. I updated 11.7.1. (without upgrading the database)  Then I applied 12 patch 1. Entered the SystemAdministrator and attempted to "Put" the files in the database. Would not let me "Put". Back to the configurator and upgraded the database, then I was able to put the files in with System Administrator. Attempted to start Workcenter, started to log in, then immediately shows log out screen and logs me out.   After an hour of reinstall all certs without success I turned on Autopass Eval mode and was able to log in. The Test License server has been working fine although it is set up in single machine mode. I have a case open with support and we are going back and forth. I am not taking Prod out of eval mode until I know I have a solution that will keep Prod running and hopefully we find that solution within the next 58 days. Thanks for your response.

Point your test server to the production autopass server and see what happens.  Once you do this, we can begin to understand if the issue lies with AutoPass or the installation of SBM.  I suspect that SBM is added an error message to the Windows Event log when production was pointing to AutoPass; this entry would tell us why SBM is failing to get a license if that is indeed what is happening.

So, point test to this license server and let's make sure that your licenses are installed correctly.

OK, I see your point. If only Autopass was as easy as SLM. Was trying to avoid a two machine setup but looks like I'll have to work through that to test the Prod Autopass.

I've also locked up my Autopass admin on Test which I'm working through with support.

    Thanks for your support.
