I've not heard that before.....He may want to try Restarting Explorer.exe to see if that helps....Could be a quick fix.

Hard to say if it is ZENworks or something about the PC itself.  Enabling the Policy to Pin Items to the Start Menu is iffy and can mess with Explorer.exe

Restarting Explorer was my next step.  He said it's been fine the last few days.  I was fine, then broke about a week or two ago.  We had a lot of snow days, so he was sure exactly the day.  But it has been fine.  It would stop working and then a reboot would fix, so restarting Explorer sounds like a workaround.  Thanks for the input.  We do have a GPO for our Start Menu, but only for students, I believe, not staff.  

It's been years.....But I had one Customer where the description was different by Explorer.exe would get very sick.

Every Refresh...GDI Objects would increase until after enough refreshes Explorer got sick.

(Note: You have to ADD the GDI Column to see it.)

I gave him a hack were a bundle ran on refresh that increased the available GDI objects for Explorer so the figure could go higher before an issue as well as read the current value and restart Explorer.exe if in the danger zone at refresh.

Root cause was never isolated because my "hack" fixed him too good ....and I never saw it reported elsewhere....and he only had it on a few machines.

Interesting.  I had never heard of that.  I'll keep it in mind.  Thanks for adding.
