Knowledge Document: iManager is not authenticating behind external F5 Load Balancer Virtual IP

Environment

Open Enterprise Server 2023
iManager

Situation

Currently the OES environment is running Cluster Services (NCS) and have a Virtual IP resource available between several OES Servers all running iManager to manage the environment.

Due to the requirements of migrating this VMs into a new platform, Cluster Services (NCS) has to be removed then run the access for iManager behind a Virtual IP on F5 instead.

But then using F5 virtual IP for iManager, the page loads but it doesn't allow any user credential to login.

Resolution

This environment type of setup is NOT supported.

iManager is just management tool running on port 524 (some plugin including custom may use port 389/636).

When logging into eDirectory, iManager can communicate with ONLY one eDirectory server which has the fastest response.

Work Around:
Install iManager on each server instead of utilizing F5 load balancer virtual IP then access those servers on iManager separately.
