Google Cloud Print support for Chromebooks

Status: Accepted
It would be very helpful to have iPrint support Google Cloud Print, as not supporting it essentially means that iPrint doesn't support the majority of devices used in K12 education in the United States.

Chromebooks have become incredibly popular in the American K12 education market in the past several years, where they now comprise over half of classroom devices. They are frequently being used in 1:1 deployments, where each student is assigned a Chromebook for use in school and at home.

Google makes available an API for developers to integrate Cloud Print support into devices applications.

  • This is a HUGE need for us going forward. We plan on being to over 600 Chromebooks in just a few years (switching from Windows student devices). This seems to be the trend in a lot of K-12 schools. As of right now, I need to setup a Windows or CUPS print server and route Cloud Print jobs through that server via another 3rd party product that we're lucky enough to have.
