Enhancement Request: submitted on behalf of georgeg@eos-systems.com
Please put back the "Portable Backup" feature into GroupWise Disaster Recovery (GWDR), as it was in versions of GWAVA Reload prior to version 5.
It is causing more work for the customer, since it is currently not in GWDR.
Note: I was requested to put this enhancement in on behalf of the customer by GWDR related engineer E.M.
He and I worked on a call for this customer.

Bob,
After our talk I did some research and found that the PORTABLE backups were removed in RELOAD 5, however, I was not aware of that because when you upgrade an older version of Reload to version 5.x it retains the PORTABLE Backups.
Here’s a TID that talks about the PORTABLE Backups … 7019359.
https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7019359
So, as I mentioned, they were there in 2017 (Reload 4.1 and maybe early version of Reload 5).
They were used for the following:
A Portable backup job is also known as a "full" or "weekly" job. It doesn't back up any data from the production GroupWise server. It moves the Standard backups (a.k.a, "daily" or "incremental" backups) into a new directory off of the ../[profile]/backups location, including making a copy of the master BLOBS (a.k.a, "attachments or "offiles" directory).
The default number of Portables that Reload keeps is two. This can be configured within the web interface or within the administration console.
My two Cents:
Portable Backups provided a more organized and manageable backup solution, allowing the customer a way to separate the backup jobs by week and keep a set amount of “weekly” backups to then rollover an additional week either before deleting the oldest week or after creation of an additional weekly backup.
Currently, the GWDR solution has a “WEEKNOW” folder that holds ALL backup files, so if you are retaining 30 daily backup jobs it can become cumbersome.
Also, it give the customer a false impression that they will only see backups in the WEEKNOW folder for the current week (hence Week NOW).
Folder should be renamed or just removed altogether and just keep everything in the “BACKUP” folder under each Post Office/Domain Profile directory.
But, rather than doing that, I feel it would be more beneficial and manageable to have the PORTABLE Backups in place.
