    This gives very little info so make sure the SLES modules/extension as mentioned in the requirements are installed, the server itself is registered and the GW admin certificates are all correct. Otherwise provide more details as OS/service pack used, GMS version and build you trying to install etc.

    Thanks for answer my config is:

    NAME="SLES"
    VERSION="15-SP4"
    VERSION_ID="15.4"
    PRETTY_NAME="SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP4"
    ID="sles"
    ID_LIKE="suse"
    ANSI_COLOR="0;32"
    CPE_NAME="cpe:/o:suse:sles:15:sp4"

    + latest patches

    GroupWise is 18.4.2

    Mobility is groupwise-mobility-service-18.4.2-x86_64.iso

    Required modules installed

    Certificates should be ok, the admin console has commercial certificates to eliminate browser warnings

    There seems to be an issue with your installed python modules. Interesting fact: My SLES 15 SP4 GMS Server does *not* have the SLES Python-3 module installed:

    Refreshing service 'Python_3_Module_15_SP4_x86_64'.

    Also, according to the GMS docs, that modules should *NOT* be installed:

    "

    SLES 15 SP2 or Later Requirements#

    SLES 15 SP2 or later requires the following SLES modules/extension before you can install Mobility:

    • Base system Module 15 (included with registration)

    • Server Applications Module (included with registration)

    • Desktop Applications Module (provides GNOME desktop)

    • SUSE Package Hub"

    Everything installed double checked

    So one problem solved but another still exists

    I trough the server away installed a complete new one with only the modules requested. Got the latest updates and and installed the mobility services.

    That installed a lot of python but runs without error till asking to admin server etc.

    then I got the error:

    "Problem validating GroupWise server and credentials. Exception: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='gw1a.muekno.de', port=9710): Max retries exceeded with url: /gwadmin-service/domains?domainType=primary (Caused by SSLError(SSLError(1, '[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed (_ssl.c:852)'),))
    Failed to validate GW Admin"

    OK as I wrote I replace the admin certs to my own certs signed by my own CA, to get rid of browser warnings when accessing the consols.

    the certificate looks like:

    Every browser I install the CA.crt accepts this as vallid
    The cert and key are under "/opt/novell/groupwise/certificates/5C2D4EA0-180B-0000-BA79-1500DA000D00/admin/"
    I asume mobility service install looks there. So  I added my ca.crt to "/var/lib/ca-certificates/pem/" where all the other CAs are.
    ButI get the same error.
    What I do GroupWise requets a lot of Certificates but makes its nearly impossible to use offical certificates and there no iformation who to do it.
    So ifyout want to eccess Webaccess oderGWWEB or mobility services only via proxys wit LE certficates to enable user access vi a trusted certificate without to work around browser or otherclient warning

    Hey Rainer,

    it looks like you went through a lot in the last couple hours...

    When I'm testing GMS internally i take the windows mail app from Windows 10 and connect via IP

    You have to user SSL on 443. At least thats what I'm using all the time...

    If you use an Android device, use Gmail APP for Active Sync... In my opinion works best

    You are right, when you open a browser on https://gms_ip you should see 403 forbidden

    Any hints in /var/log/datasync/connectors?

    I am turning in a circle, returned to the original certificates for admin service, giving me the browser error, but ok

    setup a new sles15 sp 4 installed GMS 18.4.2 and I get the error from the beginning

    AttributeError: module 'lib' has no attribute 'OpenSSL_add_all_algorithms'

    all python modules were installed by install.sh

    Sorry me again.  I started up from scratch installed again a new SLES 15 SP,

    just Base System, Desktop Apps, Server Apps, SUSE Hub, nothing else, updates no patches.

    then 'find / -name "*pytho*"' and found a lot of python 3.6 modules installed

    As of MRosen, if I understand it right noPython should be installed

    That can´t be true. Finally after the 5th or so try and always stick at the same point,I tried the following.

    I uninstalled the Python3 that was installed with SLES 15 SP4 by zypper rm phyton3 and then started to install GMS and installation ran smooth up to the end.

    That can be the way that you first have to remove packages from a fresh installed server following the GMS documentation  to be able running the GMS install. Without an note in the installation guide or support notice!

    GMS is running, MCHECK reports i hope minor problems.

    I will stop for today

    Good evening everyone

    the solved installing problem first deleting all Python3

    accessing GSM Console only if I use a proxy

    connection mobile device only via a proxy LE secured too absolut easy

    direct connection to GMS console Browser security warnings and sometimes imposible to connect

    direct connection from mobile device impossible secure port 443 or unsecure port 80

    Thanks everybody for help in this case.

    Maybe the reason is because you use self signed certificates internally. Most devices are not happy about this.

    If you want to use public certificates (including LE) mcheck will help you. It's almost the same activity as in recent dsapp.

    Good Morning,

    did go back to to original certs before the last tries use my certificate signed by my CA at the proxy for devices with internal access only and LE certificates  on the proxy for devices with internal and external access now.

    Did make proxy for all groupwise consoles now including the http consoles for DO, PO, GWIA. So I do not have to remember all the ports.

    Works fine

    Regarding the initial installation error, I can confirm that I experienced the same problem on newly build SLES 15 SP4 (plus channel updates) + GMS 18.4.2 server.    As suggested above, I removed python modules via "zypper rm phyton3", then relaunched the GMS installer.  This time it worked fine and let me proceed with the installation.

    I'm a little confused about the rest of the points in this thread, I don't see anything that looks like a certificate issue or proxy issue. This seems to be simply an installation problem due to what is probably a conflicting python rpm.

    Note the PIP issue that is addressed in this tid was also an issue but they don't seem to be related: portal.microfocus.com/.../KM000012369

    So the python issue seems to be a general problem and not only mine. For the certificates problem, that my caused  through my replacement of the GW Admin certs with my own trusted ones to omit browser warnings.

    What the mentioned TID concerns, I had this problem on one of my early partly successfull when replaceing certificates with own ones, but resulting in not be able connecting with mobile devices. In last successfull installation no problems with the console, I am useing Chrome on my OS X iMAC.

    ok, I did the same and it worked:

    zypper rm python3

    /mnt/install.sh

    gms stop

    pip uninstall cheroot

    pip install cheroot==8.6.0

    gms start

    all appears well.

    So there are a few questions here:

    1. Why does SLES15SP4 apparently now install Python3 by default, especially even without the matching Python Module added?

    2. Why, for the sake of it, can't Microfocus get their act together and finally learn universally how to properly install software on SUSE/Linux? (Hint: It has something to do with using repositories vs. just dumping (often conflicting with the OS) RPMs by scripts into the system, totally outside of any OS management). In doubt, ask the OES team how to do it, they seem to be the only ones with that knowledge left @Microfocus.

    3. Can we do away with SSL please, and invent something that works and doesn't drive everybody insane? (Partly kidding)
    More seriously: Insisting on 100% "proper" certificates on one hand, while at the same time not supporting replacing the admin! interface certificate (yes, that's the case, it's not officially supported) is not really helping.

    I understand it may be meaningfull in a lot of envioremnets to secure internal groupwise communication by SSL, but is should be an option for the user and not enfored especially by intransparent GW internal CA and certificates. And if there should be more documentation about, so i.e. the hint to import the GW CA into the browser to suppress nerving browser warnings for admin users, or whow to propper replace the GW CA

    Would someone take a look at this tid and see if it solves the issue for you.  If it does, we have an FTF build of Mobility that makes these steps no longer necessary - portal.microfocus.com/.../KM000010631

    The problem in this thread was a new instal from scratch that hang (loop) at the point login into GW Admin. seems to be the same python module that makes the problem, but cannot verify this
