Situation

Migrate entities from web UI in PPM 23.4 and later versions

Resolution

a. Export entities
Export the entities from the source instance such as the test instance.
To export entities from the source instance:
1. Log on to the PPM instance from which the user wants to migrate entities.
2. From the menu bar, select Open > Administration > Entity Export/Import to open the Entity Export/Import page.
All the entities that can be migrated are listed, and grouped by entity type. Each group displays the number of entities within it.
3. To export one or more entities, expand the relevant group and select the target entities user want to migrate. User can use the Search box to quickly locate an entity by its name.
4. When the user has selected all the target entities, click Export Entities to export them.

b. Import entities
Import entities to the target instance such as the Production instance.
To import entities to an instance:
1. Log on to the PPM instance to which user wants to import entities.
2. From the menu bar, select Open > Administration > Entity Export/Import to open the Entity Export/Import page.
3. Click Import Entities and then drag and drop the bundle files containing the entities the user wants to import to the "Drag and drop bundle files here to import" area.
If user wants to perform a trial run without actually importing the entities, select the Trial Import check box.

Note: Before performing the actual import, strongly consider using the "Trial Import" option. This allows user to test the import process without affecting the target instance's data.
