GroupWise Mobility update

For those of you waiting on the replacement for GMS, Alex posted an
update to his blog yesterday.

Wonder what everyone thinks about the one and only supported
configuration...

64-bit only? WTF comes to mind. Oh well.

When you buy GW, you get a SLES license with it, right? Do you get
unlimited installs of SLES? at least 2? Does this even still come
    packaged with GW?

If not, then I think it stinks (even though it really wouldn't affect
    me).

If the license for the OS is included, then I don't have any problem
with it; I'm used to somewhat tight restrictions with other software.
The DB restrictions are par for the course.

I'm due for a new phone in the fall, me thinks I will be dropping the
suckberry and going for a droid (or maybe an iPhail if they come to
    VZW) and trying this.

    Why WTF?

Running into this alot of places. The new Retain is x86_64 only as
    well.
Any server with the oomph to run that should be 64 bit though.

    So lets re-cap.

    1) Superlab apparently doesn't reflect real world conditions.

    2) Its a resource hog.

    3) Not supported on the same OS as OES. NICE!

    4) Who uses VMWare anyway?

I don't care. I'm not gonna be buying any new Novell products in the
foreseeable future so it doesn't really matter. :P

That doesn't bug me too much as most servers have been 64-bit for a
while. What bugs me even more is that only SLES 11 is supported.
Novell's support lifecycle page says SLES 10 has support until 2016.
Guess there should be an asterik next to that.

It bugs me from a virtualization and third party software standpoint.
Backup agents, monitoring need to support 64bit. There are some minor
considerations both in resources and performance for virtualizing a
    64-bit guest.

Its obviously not end of the world, but for shops that aren't scaling to
1000 devices, it is extra overhead and work for zero benefit.

Actually, I'm okay with it going on 64-bit SLES 11. We've got more Linux
expertise in house than anything else.
