Old Windows 23.4 to New 24.4 Appliance Agent Transfer

Hi,

We are in the process of switching from a 23.4 Windows Server to a 24.4 Linux appliance as a "fresh start" for a lot of backend issues we were running into.

What is the recommended method for transferring Windows Agents and updating the agents from the old server to the new server. I've tried looking through the documentation but I have found the information inconsistent.

Are the steps here: https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7000620 still accurate? Or is there more to be done before/after unr and reging the agents.

Any insight would be appreciated.

    That KB is still valid....

    Key Concepts...

#1 - You will want to trust the new Zone's CA before trying to register to the new zone so you are not prompted during registration.  The method in the KB is still valid.  If you have a Domain, you can also  use Domain Policies to trust the new CA which is even easier.

#2 - New servers by default have enhanced security enabled which requires an "authorization key" which is different than registration keys or credentials to register.  Upgraded servers have it off.  You will need to use "zac ark" to add the key before registering or use "zman security" to disable/enable enhanced security on your new zone.

You can tell the enhanced security is on because if you install a fresh agent it will prompt for an authorization key.
