Knowledge Document: Retain installation fails on a Windows server if CrowdStrike is enabled

Environment

Windows Server 20xx
Retain Unified Archiving 4.x, 24.x

Situation

When attempting to install Retain on a Windows server with CrowdStrike enabled, the installation fails.  There is no error message associated with failure.  The RetainInstall.exe is removed/quarantined by CrowdStrike.

Cause

The CrowdStrike security software prevents the Retain installation executable from completing.

Resolution

Refer to the CrowdStrike documentation for steps to resolve this issue.
