Groupwise 2024.4 web access appointments in the future?

I just upgraded and noticed that someone has sent me regular appintment all the way to 2043... They always show up in my inbox when I go through the web. Is there any way to limit that?

That sounds like a 'view types' for folder issue.  And I am coming up blank looking for that in GWWeb.

Try confirming the settings with a Windows GW client to make sure that toggling it there doesn't help.

What setting, exactly? It shows up as one appointment in the WIndows client, as a recurring one, ie (below). It seems to have no end and no beginning Slight smile

Im 90% certain we don't have this control in GW web yet.  Unfortunately as of now, recurring appointments each show up as a separate appointment.  Which really sucks in cases such as yours were users mistakenly schedule stuff for decades in the future.

I believe there's an idea already for this, I'll update a post here if I find it and post it before someone else does.  On my phone right now.

OK. Thanks. This appointment was sent automatically from WebEx, just FYI

Sorry was on my mobile device earlier so parsing it was awkward.  In looking at it now it doesn't appear to be either a recurring, nor a date in 2043.  Appears to be from March of 2024. Was that content from ical supposed to be a recurring?

Did it show up as 2043 in your GW desktop client?

    DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20240316T150000
    DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20240316T170000

I'm not getting recurring out of this when I look at it, just a single 2hr event on March 16 2024.

Is there more to this that I'm missing?

When I look in the client I just see one at 2025-01-18, when I look at the web client I see 2025-01-18 through 2043-12-19. If I look at the ICS file there:

FWIW, accepting the appointment in the Windows client did not change things.

I see two paths ahead of you

    A) open a support call about it in case we've missed something. You might even get Pam before she retires

    B) create an idea for GWWeb client to be able to filter the views such as the inbox to not show objects such as Calendar entries.   And then add link back here.

Well, your newer ics content post has the below extra info in providing info on the repeating appointment, I'm guessing you had removed everything after the Description: previously to hide the rest of the appointment info for privacy, but we needed that to figure out what's going on, so thank you.

    RRULE:FREQ=MONTHLY;INTERVAL=1;BYDAY=SA;BYSETPOS=3

    translates to

    • FREQ=MONTHLY: Repeats every month
    • INTERVAL=1: Repeats every 1 month (i.e., monthly)
    • BYDAY=SA: On Saturdays
    • BYSETPOS=3: Takes the third Saturday in each month

So this now makes sense as to where these future appointments are coming from, though why someone would schedule decades into the future is beyond me.  I'm not a fan of anything past a couple years depending on the project.

As I mentioned earlier, the issue stands as know limitation of GW web currently, waiting for development to add support for recurring appointments as expandable single item by default.

I haven't had time to lookup if there's an official ideas request for this.  I'd check quickly and if not, put one in.

Yes. I interpret the file the same as you. Thanks for the verification. I can ask the sender if it is OK to share. It is not top secret, just meeting reminders from the HPCC, HP Calculator Club. They are automatically generated by Webex so you might want to run it past the guys that work on the Webex integration? It should be easy to dupicate for anyone that has access to Webex.
