Work out what the executable is that us accessing the file and add it to the blacklist in the desktop application settings in Administration Console (See image below)

Well we have been trying to blacklist the explorer.exe file to access the files but it did not help that much.

Also we found that it made the explorer more latent in reaction when blacklisted.

Anyway as we suspect some subroutine/proces in explorer.exe accessing the zip files. It would be nice to know if anybody could lead us in the right direction.

Are you sure that it is explorer exe that is opening the file.  you can temporaryily set the option to whitelist and blacklist.  You will then get prompted witht he exe if any applicationis not in the whitelist or blacklist.  You can then put it in the blacklist and switch back to use blacklist.

Well, we tried that as well. But not consistent with the question here as we used Total Commander. But total Commander popped up on the prompt.

Under Control Panel/Indexing options it is possible to untick Zipfiles.

We are testing on 2 PC's and by unticking ZIP files it works on 1 PC, but the other one continues to download ZIP-files. We are following this clue on indexing. Now we are wondering if a settting properties of Disk drive/General "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties".  That option is on on the PC not behaving as we want. We will test this out later and bring an update.
