State of the Reporting Server in Data Protector 24.4

One feature of the "Premium" license was that all features were included, but the amount of backup data is limited (as opposed to drive-based licensing).

Starting at Data Protector 24.4 the old Reporting Server (RS) that was part of Data Protector is no longer supported (cannot be upgraded or used any more).

The Replacement is the Magellan Reporting Server, but the installation instructions are not part of Data Protector; only the part to enable Data Protector Reporting is included.

Trying to understand the documentation I'm unsure: It seems that the Magellan Reporting Server is a separate product not covered by the Data Protector License.

If that is true you actually get less than before for the same price. Is that true?

Downloading the recommended docuumentation it seems that the product is actually "Information Hub (iHub)".

The installation instructions for Linux start with:

operations:
â–  Reads this chapter and reads “Prerequisites for installing iHub on Linux” on page 74, and
makes note of or performs any necessary tasks this documentation describes
â–  Downloads the installation package for System Console and for Information Hub from an
OpenText download site using the URLs provided by email

AFAIK I have no license, thus no access to the installation files. Confused.

As far as I'm aware it should be included in your downloads under Data Protector. If that's not the case then we may need to find out why. Let me know please.

I will also double check and let you know whether a Premium license does include Magellan reporting.

So again, let me know if you do not see the packages and documentation under your DP downloads for 24.4.

I also double checked the licensing question and it is included in a Premium license. I see this info is missing in the manual and asked to correct that.

I see "Magellan binaries" for download, but does it mean that I have a license to use automatically? The other confusing fact is that the manual I found ("iHub Installation, Configuration, and Administration Guide") seems to refer to the product as "iHub" (Information Hub), and it does not contain a single instance of the word "Magellan".

Finally excuse the late reponse, but I had severe issues signing in since yesterday afternoon; message like "Page Not Found
Sorry, the page you requested is either moved or does not exist." for my.opentext.com/signin

Thanks for sharing your concerns. I'm addressing the naming "issue" with our product management. I know that the name will change once more soon as part of a company-wide rebranding ongoing right now. I'm assuming also the documentation will get updated with the new name then.

Regarding the license: yes, the license is automatically included in a DP Premium license.
