SBM test system upgraded to v12 with Autopass

I have just upgrade my test SBM from v11.5 to v12 and have installed Autopass.  I am having issues getting a license from my Entitlement page and now Micro Focus support is telling me I don't need a license file.  Can anyone confirm this?  All of the documentation on the portal says I need to install a license file in Autopass.  I am very confused and frustrated at this point!

Thanks,

Linda

Support is confused.  Were your test system also 11.5, you could share the production user entitlements with your  test system.  But since your test system now uses APLS instead of SLM, you will need an APLS license for the users on your test system.  Basically you'll have 11.5/SLM in production and 12.0/APLS in test.

Thank you so much for verifying what I thought was the way it should work!  I'm assuming when I upgrade production and it uses Autopass I will get a separate license for that?

If you have a production user license in APLS, it can be used for both non-production and production users. You won't need two licenses unless you have non-production user license that can only be used in non-production.  Same as it was under 11.5/SLM.

    Hi Linda,

We have 2 KB articles that most customers need to help with setting up APLS and getting the new license key.

By default, APLS requires that you use a secure SSL connection. This means that SBM and APLS much have each other's security certificates loaded. This article talks about how to either re-use your SBM certificate (if both are installed on the same machine) or how to generate and setup a new certificate (if they are on different machines)  https://portal.microfocus.com/s/article/KM000003630

This article explains how to use the Micro Focus entitlement website to generate your license key and load it into APLS. https://portal.microfocus.com/s/article/KM000005202

Sorry for the confusion. The support team must have misunderstood the situation. I'll work with them to make sure they understand.

    Hi Vickie,

Thank you so much for that information and yes, I have done all that, but I never got a license emailed to me.  Support figured out the issue and I believe it's all good now.

    Thank you,

    Linda Monroe
