Client Requirements, java usage to show java applets - Security and license concerns

Hi everyone

Some ITOM products still need java on the client side to present the java applets. As new versions of java are licenced and older versions are out off support, some customers are concerned on maintaining an old version of java might be a security issue as  this won't receive support or updates. Will ITOM products support openjdk, will the applets be migrated to a new technology,  or maybe the oracle licenses will be included on the product? 

Does anyone see the future on this?
