Help Required for Automatic Discovery and SNMP Configuration on NNMi 23.4

Hello,

I have just installed version 23.4 of NNMi. I’ve made several attempts to initiate automatic discovery, but they were unsuccessful. Would you be able to assist me with the initial configuration to monitor equipment via the SNMP protocol?

Thank you in advance for your valuable help. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further information.

Best regards,

    Hello,

it should be easy, but these are the steps:

    1. Setup SNMP on the network devices

    2. Check reachability via SNMP from the NNM server (for SNMPv2 I use /opt/OV/support/nnmsnmwalk)

    3. Add your Default Read Community to NNM (Communication Settings)

    4. Add the nodes with their management ip address as Seed to NNM

If you want auto-discovery for new nodes follow the online doc (Configure auto-discovery rules - Network Node Manager i). BTW: often people forget to check the box Discover Any SNMP Device and wonder, that only routers and switches are discovered by NNM (and no UPS, Controllers, Firewalls, ...).

    HTH and best regards
