Upgrading AWS EKS Version on Optic Data Lake

Hi Team,

We are currently running Optic Data lake version 2022.11 on our AWS environment. The EKS version that we are currently on is going to be end of life soon and we would have to upgrade to a later supported version. My question is whether we can just upgrade the EKS version on the Control plane ( to a higher supported version) and leave the worker nodes running with the existing EKS version?

AWS has confirmed, that we can run a two different versions of EKS ( One on the control plane and another version on the worker nodes). Will this have any effect on the micro focus applications or can we safely run the applications without breaking anything?  This way we would not have to upgrade the entire Micro focus applications.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tarun

    Hello Tarun,

It might work but there are no indications that such scenario was tested. Our documentation only mentions that ODL 2022.11 supports EKS versions 1.21 and 1.22. If you cannot upgrade or install a newer version of NOM, I would recommend submitting a support case with OpenText. The owner of the case will try to clarify this with developers.
