Hey Operations Bridge Premium users - find problems faster with the analytics add-on

by   in IT Operations Cloud

OpenTextTm Operations Bridge Premium users can now enjoy the power of analytics to solve problems faster and keep their IT estates running smoothly. Our new analytics add-on makes it possible. This blog explores what you can do with it.

If you’re not sure which license you have, check out the chart on page 4.

What is the analytics add-on?

With the analytics add-on, you can take advantage of automatic event correlation, anomaly detection, and Operations Bridge Analytics. Let’s walk through each of them:

Automatic event correlation (AEC)

AEC makes it easy to identify and work on the root cause of a problem. It automatically correlates events by analyzing patterns in the event stream to identify which events have the highest probability of originating from the same problem. Once related events are grouped together, they’re transformed into a single, correlated event that is sent back to Operations Bridge Manager (OBM). From there, the operator can clearly see related events, making it easier to identify and work on the root cause.

Anomaly detection (AD)

AD discovers abnormal behavior across any metric data—so you can take action before severe business impacts happen. It learns and analyzes the metric behavior to detect when a metric is critically above or below the specified baseline.

Operations Bridge Analytics (OBA)

OBA is an analysis tool that helps you generate insights from the data you choose to collect in your IT environment. As you enter a search query, OBA offers suggestions as you type. It then uses your query to analyze the information available and displays the most important and related metrics. OBA includes the following features:

  • Search

The search function of OBA makes it easy to drill down into details when there’s a problem. Using built-in intelligence, you can index and search millions of data fields in real time to find the root cause faster. You can also use the Search Query field to define the context of the problem or area you need information about. OBA then uses your query to determine the related metrics, topology, inventory, event, and log file information to display.

  • Forecasting

Forecasting enables you to generate a prediction line for one or more metrics based on past behavior and seasonal trends. That means planning ahead is easy. For example, if you see you’ll run out of disk space in 90 days, you can order and install more disks or do a clean-up to get rid of data you don’t need.

  • Logs and event analytics

Filter out noise, identify relevant clusters, and analyze text to identify abnormal behavior automatically. The log and event analytics functionality helps you locate the most significant message in each time range. Millions of log entries can be narrowed down to just a few that are important to investigate—a huge time saver.

  • Alerts

You can configure OBA to send different types of alerts based on the criteria you define. For example, when OBA determines a baseline for a particular metric and there's a breach of that baseline, you can prevent an informational event from becoming an incident.

“OpenText Operations Bridge Analytics provides SMEs the ability to reduce the amount of time spent troubleshooting problems. With OBA, we can identify a problem in a few minutes instead of days.”
