SBM: How-To Use Dashboard URL Widget functionality

SBM has the ability to embed another website on the dashboard using the URL widget. This functionality does have caveats because of the way web browsers function.

  • If SBM is using HTTP and NOT HTTPS, the URL dashboard widget can only use HTTP URLs.
  • If SBM is using HTTPS and NOT HTTP, the URL dashboard widget can only use HTTPS URLs.
  • Installations with added security using HTTPS and the Content-Security-Policy header will not allow URL dashboard widgets to work depending on CSP options.
The dashboard URL widget can be disabled so that users are not allowed to create them.  See KB D27803.  If your database was created after the implementation of D27803, you would need to use this KB article if you choose to use the URL widget.  If your database was created before implementation of D27803, then you would still have access to the URL widget.
