NNMi classic 24.2 install fails on RedHat 7 with imbedded postgres DB

Thanks in advance..

The install fails to create the postgres DB.  I think its related to encryption algo.

I am trying the silent install with the ovparams file in /tmp with "nnm.install.hwSupportsRNG=false"

to turn of FIPS but I am not convinced it is working.

Question:  Is there a way to confirm the install is not using FIPS or any other thoughts?

    I have the same problem on Oracle Linux 9.4. My searches led me to the insufficient entropy problem.
    NNMi failures in FIPS mode due to entropy insufficiency - Network Node Manager i (microfocus.com)

    As of now, I am also looking for a solution. Dear support service we need help in solving this problem.

    Hello Oleksandr,

    maybe the nnmaction error is not related to entropy as there is a hotfix available, which solved my problem with "exit 17": After upgrading to NNMi 24.2, nnmaction is not running (microfocus.com)

    There used to be an issue with folder permissions with public folder could you check if that's the case. I don't have the KB doc handy but there are number of KB docs about the public folder issue. Process cannot write the lock/pid file in that folder and due to that other process cannot find this file and fails.

    my issue seems to be with the creation of the embeded postgres db.  I get 

    object manager name: nmsdbmgr
    state: NOT_RUNNING
    PID: -
    last message: -
    exit status: Exited on signal 6, core dumped.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    the initdb.log shows

    fips.c(145): OpenSSL internal error, assertion failed: FATAL FIPS SELFTEST FAILURE
    Aborted (core dumped)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    running a silent install without fips does the same thing... but it looks like the ovinstallparams file gets overwritten in tmp

    setting the flag back to TRUE.

    I tried with following with no issues

    CentOS 7.9   8 GB RAM 4 PROCS

    NNMi 24.2

    I have following changes in  ovinstallparams.ini

    httpport=80 

    nnm.install.hwSupportsRNG=false

    install.fips.mode.only=no

        I may have missed something obvious....   I did not have "install.fips.mode.only=no" in my ovinstallparams.ini file...

    I hope to try and test this today. But worst case early next week and I will reply/verify answer...

    unfortunately I got the same result after adding install.fips.mode.only=no

    I'm trying RHEL 7.9 with 12 cpu and 32Gb.

    I'm not sure why, but during the install, the ovinstallparams.ini file gets overwritten with a different format

    and even though it has nnm.install.hwSupportsRNG=false ,  it also adds  nnm.install.hwSupportsRNG=true as the last entry of 

    the [installer.properties] section.

    may be strange but I suspect may be it doesnt like copy paste? (Dos to Unix)

    can you try manually adding those entries , I know I had similar issue in one of the param files earlier.

    Other usual suspects are space or permission in /tmp.

    Additionally following is my initial log of install.. I suspect you may have something there

    sorry for the delayed response....I manually edited the file. No luck.  the first sign of an issue seems to be the following:

    INFO - The script /bin/bash /var/opt/OV/media/packages/ has returned a value of 1

    INFO - NNMi Postinstall Configuration [FAILED]

    All 50 packages install but the imbedded postgres database fails to be created.

    Appreciate all the help.  I will likely have to open a case

    Forgot to mention there used to be another issue if your install media files are in /tmp  folder.

    They should be somewhere else.

    Otherwise , opening a case would be a good approach.
