SA - Install Software timeout issue

Hi,

When attempting Install Software for my windows machine via SA then I got the following the error message.

Some of things we have tried are:

- Verified that there is more than enough RAM and disk space

- Uninstalled and re-installed the SA agent (Version 80.0.92103.0)

Any suggestions as to what else we can try?

    Hello There,

    Few things to note here:

-How many windows servers are affected?

    -Has this worked before?

-Once you install the SA agent on the affected server, can you run a communication test and make sure it is reachable? The error you see seems to be related to a problem with the SA agent of the affected server/s so make sure that the SA agents for those servers are reachable.

-Try to run a bs_software manually from the affected server:

    C:\Program Files\Opsware\agent\pylibs\cog\bs_software.bat --debug

Make sure the above command runs fine, otherwise, report which error you see...

    Review the SA agent logs:

    Linux agent logs:

    /var/log/opsware/agent/agent.log*

    /var/log/opsware/agent/agent.err*

    Windows agent logs:

    %ProgramFiles%Common Files\opsware\log\agent\agent.log*

    %ProgramFiles%Common Files\opsware\log\agent\agent.err*

    Kind regards,

    Luis.

I'm only having trouble with one server.

    the agent was working before.

can you run a communication test and make sure it is reachable?
    yes successful

TCP 3001 and TCP 1002 ports are open. windows firewall is off.

    C:\Program Files\Opsware\agent\pylibs\cog\bs_software.bat --debug
    - yes successful

-I could not see any errors in the log files.

    INFO "completed way cmd <id:55252000001> <way_url:https://way:1018/wayrpc.py> <username:None> <method:peval> <status:SUCCESS>" - - - - ""

Also ,I ran uninstall software with SA Console. I get an error like below.

    Hello,

According to the last error reported, seems like there might be a problem with the spin component. Lets say, the spin component cannot communicate with the SA agent of that managed server you are working with, so I suggest you to run the job and then go to the SA Core you are connected to and check from /var/log/opsware/spin the spin.err log right after you execute the job.

Like you said , I've checked spin.err logs. There is no any error message related to the problematic machine. Now , I ran uninstall job for this machine. This job works 1 hour. Then I am getting an error message like below.

    Hi Max,

I recommend you to review also the windows update log, sometimes the problem might be coming from the OS of the server, instead of SA...You confirmed there is only just one server affected, so if the problem is bigger, then all managed servers would be affected, is the affected server running the latest SA agent version? If not, proceed to upgrade it...

You are also saying that uninstall job ran fine over an hour, and then what? Did it fail? Because the error I see from the screenshot you shared, is still related to a communication problem with the SA agent of the managed server affected.

Again, I recommend you to reproduce the problem and then gather the windows update log, please refer to this documentation:

    https://docs.microsoft.co\m/en-us/powershell/module/windowsupdate/get-windowsupdatelog?view=win10-ps

In addition, review the waybot.err while reproducing the problem, from SA Core run:

    tail -f /var/log/opsware/waybot.err

    Kind regards.

    Thanks,

Yes, I'm running the uninstall job. Normally, it should be done in a very short time. But, it takes an hour and then it gives a timeout error.

btw,  I am getting an error message like below.
