Error when logging in

I am getting this error when trying to log into our service desk.

"Unable to connect to the directory server. Please contact the Administrator."

I found an article about checking address restrictions on users, but it did not apply as there we're no address restrictions. This error happens with all of my users.

Some basic stuff I tried, restarting the server and restarting SQL services on the SQL server.

We're running the latest Service Desk on Windows server 2012 and connected to SQL 2012.

Just thought i'd check here before opening an SR. Thanks.

    Thanks for checking in here. From my experience this is an LDAP thing. I used to randomly see this on v7.2. I got around this by clicking the login button a second time and it would always let me in. That tells me that the communication with the LDAP server is getting interrupted. Does your instance allow you in on the second login click or blocked completely? One thing to check is in the Admin portal. Go to Reports and Log and scroll to the bottom. Then scroll back looking for LDAP or other authentication errors. Tells us what you find.

    Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I am unable to login at all, so I can't get to the admin portal. I also tried your trick but that didn't work, I seem to be blocked completely. We're on 7.3 just FYI. I have been looking through the logs this morning but nothing obvious is jumping out at me.

    It's working now. We aren't sure exactly what happened, but something on the LDAP server was off. Rebooting it fixed the login issues. Thanks for your help.

    Glad to hear things are working. Makes sense it was ldap related. It may be worth the effort to review the Log file and see what is reported.
