Does Linux Imaging Still Work with Windows 11?

I thought we had to use WinPE these days, but I see others talking about still using Linux imaging. I'm using ZCM 24.2 with the latest imaging update. Anytime I try to boot to the linux imaging maintenance window, it just stops on this screen.

Yes you can image Windows 11 with Linux.  Do realize what you are showing has  nothing to do with Linux, since your are  PXE booting it makes no difference what is on the HDD.  It may be a hardware compatibility issue...This is why I always recommend WinPE....Vastly fewer Hardware Compatibility issues and so simple to add  drivers/patches to the WIM.

I see a Dev Ticket with a similar issue - "OCTCR40D793019 PXE imaging stuck at 'Welcome to GRUB!' on Dell OptiPlex 7010 ", but they thought the tix eas Grub 2.12, which clearly you have...Probably lingering issues between LInux and some Chipsets or chipset settings....

I saw that about the Optiplex 7010, but we're a Lenovo shop. I've tried the ZENWorks imaging option on a few different models and have experienced this issue on all of them.

I'm only calling it Linux imaging because that's what it has been referred to for as long as I can remember. Even ZCC calls the imaging script bundle option a "Linux Imaging Script. I'm not actually imaging Linux......

Anyways, I will focus on trying to get WinPE imaging up and going. I just recall "Linux" imaging being a lot simpler to get functioning since it didn't require Windows ADK, customizing winpe.wim, and all that hooplah. You just installed Windows, sysprepped, uploaded and started imaging.

    Lenovo, Dell, HP....Does not matter.....

It's not about the Vendor....It's about the Intel Chipsets etc....compatibility issues are really about the PC vendor themselves....

That is the reason most folks stick with Linux Imaging...THat is how they have already done it and that is how their processes are setup.  I totally get it.....The nice thing about migrating to WinPE.....You don't have to swap all at once....Both can be active at the same time as you learn the ins and outs....

    Hello Seth,

we also use Lenovo and Linux PXE. On newer Lenovo devices you have to disable some settings in Bios for PXE:

    Go to Security

    Kernel DMA Protection=off

    Enhanced Windows Biometric Security =off

After Imaging, you can enable it.
