Office 2010 from template

Just downloaded the eval version of 9.0.1 to try it out.

I figured I'd start with something easy, from a Template. Office 2010 seemed like a good candidate.

I installed Office 2010 on a clean machine, then generated the virtual app using the template.

But when I launch the .exe (even on the same machine where I created it), I get "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 - The application was unable to load a required component: MSVCR90.DLL. Please contact the publisher of this application for more information."

Any ideas?

Were you by any chance virtualizing this on a VM? If so, was it an ESX VM and were VMWare Tools installed? If the tools were installed, try again with them removed.

It's been a while since I've personally seen that error, so I can't remember exactly what was done to resolve it. You might try unchecking the "Spawn child processes within virtualized environment" option in Settings -> Process Configuration. It's also worth it to check if msvcr90.dll exists in the file system, then determine if it exists in the same place in the virtual file system.

If you're still having issues, I suggest opening an SR if possible.

    Hi,

Have you found a solution to your problem? I have exactly the same.

    Cheers,

I don't know what the original cause of the problem was. But I rebuilt the virtual app with a "cleaner" machine (only Windows XP and MS Office 2010 installed), and it worked.

Actually, I've found the solution myself. I had to add the MSVCR90.DLL file in my application, and the librairies, manifests and policies folders from WINDOWS\WinSxS
Now, it works for Word and PowerPoint, but I have another error when I'm trying to launch Excel, about a damaged or missing DLL (XLLEX.DLL)

I would verify it exists in the Office installation folder of the virtual file system. This is still Office 2010 from a template, right? In that case, I can do some testing myself when I next have access to my lab and see if I can reproduce the issue. If I find anything useful, I'll post it here.
