OpenText product name changes coming to the community soon! Learn more.
Good morning, Community!
We're thrilled to see the rapid adoption of the OES 24.4 release and would like to extend our thanks to our early adopters. If you haven't already, we encourage you to read the OpenText Open Enterprise Server CE 24.4 article to learn why upgrading to OES 24.4 is beneficial and how to get started.
Like many of you, I've successfully upgraded several of our demo servers - including replica servers, UMC servers, and cluster nodes - from OES 24.3 to 24.4 using the Channel Upgrade method. One tip that saved me considerable time was downloading the updates to an MF SMT server first before upgrading OES servers.
Although the upgrades went smoothly, I did notice that yast2 online_update reported 'end of general support' warning for both 23.4 (before upgrade) and 24.4 (after upgrade).
After investigating, we've confirmed that this warning message is incorrect. The actual end of general support for these versions is correctly documented on the product support lifecycle page.
The incorrect warning message is due to an inaccurate date in the /etc/products.d/Open_Enterprise_Server.prod file. A fix will be included in the next release cycle. In the meantime, please feel free to ignore this warning, as it doesn't affect the upgrade process.
We'll keep this post updated with any new developments. Happy upgrading, and thank you for being part of our community!
