Situation

When trying to manage NSS with iManager > Roles and Tasks > Storage, the following error is displayed upon selection of the NCP Server object:

ERROR:"File protocol error occurred: cannot open the NSS version file on the selected server. The NSS software may not currently be running on this server"

When replicating the problem upon having changed the iManager "Logging Level" to "Errors, Warnings and Debug Information messages" per iManager > Configure > iManager Server > Configure iManager > Logging Events, /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/WEB-INF/logs/debug.html shows:

At the server where NSS administration fails, the following sfcb messages are logged to /var/log/messages:
