Sometimes cifsd can crash while processing a Kerberos authentication request. The following message is logged by the kernel when this crash occurs: " kernel: [736425.156988] cifsd[16874]: segfault at ffffffff ip 00007fcf0bfd187e sp 00007fcbcbffde10 error 4 in libkrb5.so.3.3[7fcf0bf7e000+c6000] "

Situation

Sometimes cifsd can crash while processing a Kerberos authentication request.

Users may experience a short service interruption.

cifsd will not remain down after the crash and gets restarted automatically.

The following message is logged by the kernel when this crash occurs:

"
kernel: [736425.156988] cifsd[16874]: segfault at ffffffff ip 00007fcf0bfd187e sp 00007fcbcbffde10 error 4 in libkrb5.so.3.3[7fcf0bf7e000+c6000]
"

When the generated core dump is loaded in gdb with the correct debug symbols, a backtrace of the code occurs.
