Kanaka 3.2.1 on osx 15 (released version)

since long time, kanaka exist as version 3.2.1 and the documentation say:

macOS
Monterey (12) and Ventura (13) are supported via the Kanaka 3.2 Plug-in and Client. macOS versions
earlier then BigSur (11) can use the older kanaka 3.1 Plug-in and Client.
OES Support
Micro Focus Open Enterprise Server 2018 SP3 and 2023 are now supported.

Now we are any years later, there was a macOS 14 and now 15,  oes is now in version 24.3, soon 24.4

My actual experience is that the kanaka client works fine on osx15, but not the "kanaka Utility" and not the "kanaka Plug-in-Console"

Kanaka has disappear from the osx directory Utility!

Will OT continue to developp this software?

Yes, we will continue to develop and offer Kanaka.

Is it necessary to open a case on ot support portal?

That helps if you open a case when you encounter any issue with Kanaka.

An update on this issue from our Product Management team:

As an integration component between macOS and OES operating systems, it is our ambition to develop and ship Kanaka updates based on the best options for compatibility for both operating systems at the time of each cycle. We aim to have releases of Kanaka as required somewhat in conjunction with Apple, which is generally in the fall. In the past our policy has been to do an update of Kanaka if we have new feature/functionality, bug fixes, or if testing of the new macOS shows the need for it. In general, unless you see an announcement from us such as this one relatively soon after a new version of macOS is released by Apple, you can assume that the currently shipping version of Kanaka is supported with the latest macOS release without an update to the compatibility list in the product documentation.

To make the determination, we always test the macOS betas during the summer after new releases are announced at WWDC. In addition to our own testing, we have customers performing their own tests, which we appreciate greatly.

The reason for the delay in making a decision is this: In years past we have experienced last minute changes between the final beta of macOS and the shipping version. We have seen Apple introduce new bugs and we have seen Apple remove or reintroduce features in response to the betas. Therefore, there is always a delay between when Apple releases and any new Kanaka release so that we can adjust to the official macOS release for a final testing and determination. Since macOS 15 just shipped a few days ago, we are in that evaluation period.

In relation to OES releases, you can expect that we are testing the latest shipping release of Kanaka against new OES builds. Like the strategy with macOS discussed above, if there are no breaking changes in a new OES release, we may not ship a new version of Kanaka just to update the documentation to include the new OES version in the compatibility list. Therefore, you can assume that a current version of Kanaka will work with current versions of OES unless there is an announcement from us to the contrary. For example, the most recent Kanaka was shipped to support OES 2023, but is fully supported against OES 24.3, the latest version.

This year we have wanted to do a new Kanaka release to go along with both macOS 15 and OES 24.4. The timing of these releases presents some challenges in that Apple introduced macOS 15 “Sequoia” this past week, which was earlier than expected, while we are also wanting to ensure that we achieve compatibility with the final release of OES 24.4, which is scheduled for later this year. We will do the Kanaka release as soon as we can after the release of OES 24.4 and this release is scheduled to be made available alongside the Windows Client for OES 24.4 the OpenText app repository.

It appears that Apple has deprecated the interfaces currently used for the Kanaka Plug-In. We are currently evaluating a path forward for customers using the Plug-In as opposed to the generally more popular Kanaka Client. As such we have been researching as well as soliciting input from customers. The resulting solution will be targeted for a future version of Kanaka based on these findings.

We hope this information is useful and demonstrates our efforts and commitments to the continued development and delivery of Kanaka. Our support team is always standing by to answer any questions or discuss any ideas with our customers.
