When doing a silent install of the iPrint client from an elevated command prompt, either by manually executing nipp-s.exe or setupipp /s, control is returned immediately and the install continues in the background. One may be lead to believe that the install has been completed but it has only been initiated.
While this may be a bit disconcerting it is considerably more problematic when doing a remote install.
Most remote install applications expect the installation to provide a return code to indicate whether or not the installation was successful but the iPrint client install does not. This typically results in the installation task timing out and being reported as failed when, in fact, it may have completed successfully.
When doing a remote install on multiple devices it is especially important to know if the installations were successful.
