I just found out that Vertigo doesn't work with GW18 the hard way as well, upgraded the server and Vertigo can't access it now.

There is an interim fix for this.

I don't have details at this time, except to say the fix for GroupWise Mailbox Management working with GroupWise 18 is still available via service request.
