A new server for Reload?

I see several customers requesting a migration of Reload to a new server. Many customer started with Sles12 (there are even some older environments) but they want to move to Sles15SP5 or Sles15Sp6.

Is there any document available to show instructions or give a hint?

Hi Diethmar - Sadly all we have is the current documentation at https://www.microfocus.com/documentation/groupwise/groupwise-disaster-recovery24/.  - Pam

Yes, I know, Pam. I have searched in vain. I.e. Retain supports such a hint. I wonder that no one is requesting such a help Thinking

In my opinion it seems to be easy but depends on local conditions. Reload does not use a database which makes life a lot easier.

There is one important directory: /opt/beginfinite/retain holding a lot of configuration files. Maybe /etc/beginfinite/reload too.

Then we have to take care of all data (containing all backups, tar-files, scripts and so on). If it is an external store, nothing to migrate. If it is a volume then link this volume to the new server. If it is a local directory then it will not be effortless ...

Some minor things to consider are postfix settings (is it in use), certificates, ...

Finally the most  important part after migration is NFS. NFS server and NFS client. Reload is based on NFS in most environments. All NFS shares which have been used for and with the original server have to be recreated and checked for the new server.

Is it really that simple? Innocent

I agtee with you.  Also I am in the process of going through a very old lab excercise for Reload to bring it up to date and I am finding that NFS is no longer an option, so I see that as a big stumbling block with this.
