Re-Use Filters, Services and Exceptions

Secure Message Gateway is using a very different concept of designing policies compared to old GWAVA. First of all SMG is using a graphical design tool which is confusing especially in the beginning.
After a short time of using filters, services, exceptions and links between them you will end up in a jungle of elements which does not make your life easier. However if you start to reuse elements then your policy will get a clear design (I hope).

If you start to work with a policy then you will have templates on the left side and components on the right side. Dragging down a template causes a new element (green arrow), dragging down a component means that you want to re-use an existing element (blue arrow).

"new" does not need further explanation.

"reuse": an item can be (re)used in your design board many times but it still stays the same item. If you change title or behavior of one, you will change all instances! Changes can be done in your components window or directly in your design board.
A fast example to check is that you change the title of a component - all identical instances will show a new title. However if you re-use (i.e.) a filter then it will not cause performance delays. It will stay one single filter activity which will be used more than one time.

So re-using filters, services and exceptions does not cost performance, but avoids links spanning the whole page.

We will add some examples in Tips & Information to make it clear.
