SMG October Release is avoidable

The October update is now available in the SMG appliance.

Some of you may have already heard and for those who have not, a letter of explanation is being sent in November. OpenText support time frames for long term support is done with the builds / versions that are released in Quarter 4 of each year. While this update is being released in that time frame, this one is not part of the long term support. We have a little bit of work to do yet with the update process before this can be considered under long term support. I am sure that support will be coming with either the November monthly update or the December update. We will keep you posted.

In the meantime, as usual, you can go to the History page to see what has been added to this release. The URL for that page is https://updates.smg.microfocus.com/history/app/history

Development thinks that this should be an easy fix to make. We thought we had a work around but with this being Friday and Monday being a holiday in the US, we have decided to pull the update and get it…

There should be a different version number I assume, if you click on https://updates.smg.microfocus.com/history/app/history

When I asked on Friday I was told that they were "close" however no ETA. Trust me, I am checking every day.

I do apologize for the install issue this one has caused.

Solution 1: install smg-upgrade-7.0.2-7.1.noarch from vendor Micro Focus
replacing smg-upgrade-7.0.1-45.1.noarch from vendor obs://private/MCM:branch
Solution 2: do not install patch:SMG-Product-Upgrade-7.0.2-2023-1.noarch
