Cannot log into GroupWise Admin Service on one POA

Having trouble with one POA, out of a system with multiple POA's and agents. This started when working to move the system IP addresses to host names in preparation for upgrade.

the gwadmin-console.log states:

2024-08-15 09:49:55 RestService [ERROR] GET->https://<hostname>:9710/gwadmin-service/system/whoami failed
2024-08-15 09:49:55 RestService [ERROR] Caught IOException - Premature EOF
2024-08-15 09:49:55 GwAuthenticationProvider [ERROR] ***Failed to Login **** Premature EOF

No admin users can login. I've re-run the installation, I have used gwadminutility to get new certificates, but I can't seem to get into it at all.

It does seem to be communicating to the Primary domain, because user changes are happening.

anyone have any ideas how to address this?

    i think you are on oes23.x, oes24.x or sels15

wich gw version do you have and wich build?

are the othter gw-services start correctly and only gwadminservice will not start

do you have a correct and valid gwha.conf on /etc/opt/novell/groupwise

please verify the file gwadminservice.conf on /etc/opt/novell/groupwise

i had the trouble recently that my groupwise services would not start and after long time and research i found the gwadminservice.conf was corrupt and i had replace this tile. This is a little file with 81 bytes! i had gw24.3 build 145994 on a oes24.3 server

how do you start groupwise? rcgrpwise start/stop/status/restart?

you can try to start it manually with systemctl

is port 9710 responding? lsof -i:9710

do you have open a case by ot portal?

We're behind. This is version 18.1 on SLES 12

POA, gwadminservice and the DVA all start. Its just logging into gwadminservice that doesn't work. No with the admin account or other names admins.

gwha and gwadminservice.conf are consistent with other servers in this environment.

    No open case yet.

so you see the login page for GWAdmin,  but can't log in?   or that the GWAdmin page doesn't come up in the browser?

I can see the login page, no matter the credentials used, "The user name or password you have entered is incorrect"

I know the credentials are correct, they work in other server's gwadmin consoles.

It sounds like you trying to log into an admin service that is running against a post office. Those admin services are only for maintenance and admin operations and cannot be logged into. You will need to log into an admin service running at a domain.

ok, I guess I didn't realize that. I was sure those could be logged into except for the part where I had verified other domain systems and not POA systems.

This means I went way down a completely irrelevant troubleshooting path that started with an entirely different issue.

    Thank you!
