Filr Deployment in Proxmox Hypervisor

This describes about how to deploy and install OpenText Filr in a Proxmox Server.

Prerequisites

  1. Proxmox Environment: Ensure that your Proxmox environment is properly set up and configured.
  2. OpenText Filr .vmdk file:
  • Create a folder under root and download .ova file from the sld or available sources under that folder
  • Unzip the .ova file and it will contain .mf, .ovf and .vmdk file.

cmd : tar -xvf Filr.x86_64.2023-05-04.73.ova

 

Step-by-Step Deployment

Step 1: Prepare Proxmox Environment

Import the disk: Import a vmdk disk as qcow2 format in proxmox

cmd: qm importovf 485 ./Filr-Appliance.x86_64-5.0.0.ovf local-lvm

  • 485 is the vm id. You can give your own unique id.
  • Local-lvm is the storage disk for this specific Server. You can find under storage's in the Proxmox Hypervisor

 

Step 2: Configure Filr VM

  • Post Importing, login to Proxmox Dashboard
  • Under VM’s, you can see Filr VM with 485 id created

 

 

  • Select Network Device from the Options

  • Add Network Device

 

 

  • Select Hard disk option to add Vastorage disk and Var disk for the Filr Appliance

 

  • Add Vastorage disk for the Filr Appliance

 

 

  • Add Var disk for the Filr Appliance

 

 

Step 3: Configure the Filr Appliance

Power On the VM:

  • Right Click on the VM and click on Start

 

Configure the Appliance:

  • Click on “Console” and provide password fields and NTP server details and click Next.

 

  • Provide Hostname and click “Next”

  • Provide Network Details and Click “Next”.

  

 

  • Click “Next”

 

  • Click “Next”

 

  • Select “No Remote Storage” for All-In-One Deployment and Click “Next”

  • Thanks for the tip, but it does not work for me. Followed exactly, but Filr does not find the VAR HD and stops.

    My PVE is the latest version and running fine in production. Had imported most of my VMs from ESXi, working fine.

    Have running some SLES successfull, for GroupWise etc.

    What can be wrong? Please help!

    Need the filr VM for tests for a customer
