Filr Deployment in Nutanix Hypervisor

This describes about how to deploy and install OpenText Filr in a Nutanix Hypervisor.

Prerequisites

  1. Nutanix Environment: Ensure that your Nutanix environment is properly set up and configured.
  2. OpenText Filr .vmdk file: Download .ova file from the sld or available sources and unzip the .ova file and it will contain .mf, .ovf and .vmdk file.

 

Step-by-Step Deployment

Step 1: Prepare Nutanix Environment

  1. Log into Nutanix Prism: Use your credentials to access the Nutanix Prism web console.
  2. Create image:
  • For Deploying Filr, We need to Create image.
  • Go to settings and click on Image Configuration and click on Upload image.

  • Now, Clicking on Upload image will show Create Image window and enter the name and upload .vmdk file.
  • Click save and wait for it to finish the create image process.

Step 2: Create a New VM

General Configuration:

  • Fill in the required details such as VM name, vCPUs and memory configuration.
  • Go to the "VMs" tab.
  • Click on "Create VM".
  • Provide “Name of the VM” and Time Zone Details

 Memory Configuration:

  • Provide VCPU’s and Memory needed for VM
  • Recommended CPU is 4 cores.
  • Recommended RAM is 20 GB

 Disk Configuration:

  • Under Disks, Remove the prepopulated disks if anything listing.
  • Click on Add New Disk

  • Select “Clone from Image Service” under Operation and select the same Image file which created under Step 1

 

  • Click on Add and it shows like below

  • Click on “Add New Disk” for VAstorage

 

 

  • Click “Add” and repeat again for creating Var storage.

  • Click “Add” and it shows like below.

 

 

 Network Configuration:

  • Assign a network interface to the VM.
  • Ensure the VM is connected to a network that has access to other necessary services and devices.
  • Click on “Add New NIC” and assign the IP address which we want to configure.

 

Click on "Add”

  • Click on “Save”.
  • Wait for it finish to create VM.

 

 

Step 3: Configuration of the Filr Appliance

Power On the VM:

  • Right Click on the VM and click on Power ON
  • Click on “Launch Console” and install the Filr VM

 

  • Provide root and vaadmin passwords and give NTP details and click “Next” .

  • Provide Hostname and click “Next”

     

    • Provide Network Details and Click “Next”.

    • Click “Next”

      •  Click “Next”

      • Select “No Remote Storage” for All-In-One Deployment and Click “Next”
