Filr PDF and DOC(x) inline rendering slow or even incomplete

Hi.

I usually don't use filr a lot through the web interface, but now have a customer who does, and so got to test this, and I can confirm his issue in my own environment.

Filr in both cases has quite some problems rendering supported documents, especially docx and pdf files that are just slightly more complex than a single page of text. Inline viewing e.g a PDF with 20 pages and a few graphics can take several minutes to even open at all, and then once it finally opens, often only a subset of the pages are actually rendered. Same with word documents, here I often see the famous "broken image" icon where in the original document graphics or pictures are embedded, or sometimes it's even all I see, like a two page word doc results in the browser in just two of those broken image icons.

Filr 24.4.1 single server in both cases, and I can't find a lot on this, or how to even start debugging it. So any help highly appreciated. This looks to me like something's malfunctioning communicating with whatever process is doing the rendering.

I am guessing that you have not amended the timeout which defaults to 30 seconds so if it is taking several minutes to convert then it will not be the conversion itself that is slowing things up, otherwise you would have a timeout long before  I often disable the conversion for pdf files and just rely on the browser pdf plugin to display it.  Does that work for you?  If the files are not being rendered correctly, I would open an SR.

    Hi Robin.

Disabling would work for PDF, but not for docx, where I see the same issue. Any hint where to look at to possibly debug this further? Is there a log for the converter?
    Otherwise I'll open a SR.

    Thanks!
