Associated Applications Viewer Icon

Hi all-

New administrator with a question regarding how to customize the associated applications viewer icon.  

CM10.1

Windows 11

I have a user that reports the icon for Publisher (PUB) is using a generic icon vs the MS icon associated with the product.  I have confirmed that toggling to the associated application in the viewer customization does not change the icon.  Is there a "trick" to change the icon or a way to update the icon from the generic paper with paperclip icon.

    I believe this is the default behaviour when an application is not actually installed on the device, does the user actually have the application installed on their client PC ?

    Two other things to check:

    Is the icon correct for other staff in CM who also have Publisher installed?
    If no and all the other staff have the same generic icon in the system then this could be a bug. If you can let us know the exact version of 10.1 (including patch / build number) I can try on my own machine.

    If the icon is ok for other staff, what happens when the user that is impacted drags / extracts one of the PUB items from CM to their desktop?
    If the users icon for the file on the desktop is also incorrect, then they may have changed the application that PUB files open with even though publisher is installed. This can tend to be fixed with a right click -> Open with -> Publisher and check the 'always open with this application' box.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I checked with other users.  They are also seeing the generic icon.  Here is the build information for the CM version we are running.  

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Looks like its the particular CM Version

    Can't explicitly call the 'version range' but there was a period where the icons were streamlined to make them more inline with how the icons present in the WebClient. This looks to be the case with your exact 10.1 version as you can see the Word and Excel icons aren't exactly the same as the desktop icons either.

    From memory, due to feedback, it was swapped back. Below is a screenshot from my 23.4 environment where the icons in CM now match the desktop icons again 100%.

    EDIT: Managed to find a previous thread.  CM10.1 Document Icon display Looks like 10.1 Patch 2 may have the icons swapped back from one of Shiela's answers Slight smile
