NDMP Restore: incomplete file browsing

Hello!

I started testing 3way NDMP-Backup from a Dell Unity to a Dell Datadomain.

After configuring NDMP-Users and Password backup is working fine.

Now when restoring the file browsing is incomplete:

i see all folders in the root (in my test case this are 6), but i can only one folder to view level 2, and in there only some objects are browseable deeper into the folder structure.

When i restore something, everything is restored. I compared number of files and timestamps. So backup works, restore works, but not browsing the files for restore.

Am i doing something wrong?

Is history tracking enabled during the backup and is direct access restore set for the restore? I'm not really sure how the environment parameters look like for a Dell Unity. We do have them documented for a number of other brands:

NDMP environment variables

Assuming the naming is similar to other brans, you would need to make sure HIST and DIRECT are set.

Thanks Koen,

HIST and DIRECT are both Y by default, and i did not set them to something else, so this should not be the problem.

Also, I'm assuming you are using one of the NDMP server volume supported languages?

The omnib command lists the same subset of files and directories which are browseable in the gui.
So the backup does not record all file informations for some reason.
