Supportmatrix VMware Integration SLES 15

Hello,

we are about to integrate VMwareintegration for DP23.4. In the Support Matrix we found the following note: "HotAdd transport mode is not supported on SLES 15" - how can we understand this? Does this apply to the client or cellmanager or mediaagent/backup host?

Thank you very much.

Kind regards.

This is a VMWare feature explained here: HotAdd Transport

Hello, i did not mean how to understand HotAdd, my question was how to understand the support matrix. Is Sles 15 not supported for clients that we want to backup with hotadd or does the support matrix means the backup host that should not be sles 15 or maybe the cellmanager itself?

Yes, I'm sorry. I was too quick answerring and just started to think about it. It's clearly not about the cell manager, but about the backup host, the VEPA host or BAR host to be more clear. And yes, the other option could have been this is about the backed up VM. If it was that then it should definitely have been mentioned. But I agree it could becomre more clear by more specifically specifying this is about the backup host. I'll send this on as a suggestion. Thanks for letting us know.

As already said by my colleague Koen Verbelen SLES 15 refers to the backup host, the server where the Virtual environment integration agent is installed, responsible for backing up the VMs. Please also note that ONLY SLES 15 SP1 is supported as Vmware has certifies only SP1 and not any other SLES 15 SP.

    Hoping this helps as well.

    Kind regards

Thank you for your reply. What does "ONLY SLES 15 SP1 is supported as Vmware has certifies only SP1 and not any other SLES 15 SP" mean? I'm not shure how to understand it right.
