Cartridges formating issue

Unable to formate the cartridges which is 100 % occupied by older backup. When I'm trying to formate the error is locked by someone.

Can you maybe show the exact error please? Also let us know what tape and library hardware you are using.

Can you please let u know the exact error you are seeing? What does "locked by someone" mean? Is it a Data Protector message or is it reported by the hardware? Did you check there are no hanging media agents from previously failed sessions? If you reboot your media agent systen, does that help?
