ZENworks Service Desk: Token Authentication - Connecting to Azure AD and O365

ZENworks Service Desk's core component is email for communication, alerts, notifications and other services.  Email can be an off-cloud or cloud-serviced component.  It is important to secure your system whether you’re using off-cloud resources or private/public cloud resources. 

Setting up the ZENworks Service Desk email communication and interfacing with AzureAD might be new to your organization.  We’ve outlined the prerequisites and steps to successfully connect your User source to the ZSD system. 

ZENworks Service Desk supports the MSModern authentication and OAuth Token authentication to secure your email communications to AzureAD cloud provider and O365 email users.  There are separate incoming and outgoing server configurations and if needed, these can be different protocols depending on your environment.


MSModern Authentication is tightly coupled with the Microsoft Libraries and ZSD to automate your O365 setup.  However, OAuth can be used for both Microsoft and other cloud providers to configure the ZSD email system for a token-based authentication to keep communications secure.

Using POP3s or IMAPS enables you to select the OAuth Incoming and Outgoing Servers where the typical IDs, Scopes and Tokens are required to complete the communication connection.

Selecting the MSModern Authentication button requests similar IDs and tokens to complete the communication connection with AzureAD.
