PVCS Version upgrade.

Hi Everyone.

I am new to pvcs world.
At my new job, i am required to upgrade our Serena License Manager to lm 2.20 and also the main PVCS program 8.4.6.0 build 037.
I was looking for information on how to do a test upgrade of LM and the Main program first to make sure everything works before we do the main upgrade.
We are currently running the LM on windows server 2012 r2
Can i spin up another server copy our LM and upgrade to 2.20.
Is there is reason why this wont work?
Will it cause problems?

Any information will greatly appreciated.

    Upgrading License Manager
    -----------------------------------
    For upgrading LM you can either follow any one option below

    1. You can directly upgrade the License server in the same OS
    2. Install latest LM in another OS and rehost your license


    Upgrading PVCS
    ------------------------
    For upgrading PVCS its better to follow the below steps instead direct upgrade

    1. Install latest PVCS in new server
    2. Copy 2 or 3 projects from your current server to new server
    3. Upgrade the projects
    4. Test the upgraded projects
    5. After testing the upgraded projects, now copy all the projects from current server to new server
    6. Perform upgrade and test it
