For the PPM Resource and Project Management users….

Are you wondering why a Project Manager can’t assign a resource to a position using Staffing Profile new UI after upgrading to PPM version to 9.4/9.5 ?

Resource assignment in the Staffing profile is really a Resource manager’s responsibility hence any user who needs to assign resources need to have resource manager role to get the required access grants. This change in the functionality was introduced in the Staffing Profile new UI.

Many of the existing PPM long-timers are still using Staffing Profile legacy view even in PPM 9.5 version, but after the upgrade to 9.4 version, it’s strongly recommended to move to Staffing Profile new UI. This UI has a slick design and much more user friendly. Although legacy Staffing Profile view is still supported, Staffing Profile new UI would be continued to be enhanced with additional features going forward. If for a business assignment needs to be done by any other role than resource manager then R&D have provided a parameter “RM_OVERRIDE_ASSIGNMENT_CONTROLS” to give that flexibility. By default, the parameter is disabled. Once the parameter is turned on it would allow the Project Managers to perform the resource assignments as well for the customers where they are still using both UIs to have uniform behavior. R&D’s recommendation is have entire business users to use the new UI.
