PPM installation on Oracle Cloud

Hello,

We are planning to set up PPM on Oracle Cloud for a customer. The official documentation recommends using Oracle Linux as the OS and Oracle Database Cloud Service for the database.

  • However, we are considering using Microsoft Windows Server 2022 as the OS and installing Oracle Enterprise 19c or 19.3 on Oracle Cloud. Can anyone confirm if this configuration would be supported by PPM?
  • Additionally, is there any detailed guide or documentation available for setting up PPM on Oracle Cloud? What would be the best practices for this installation?

Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi Navneet,

The recommendation in the support matrix for OS & DB are just recommendation for the OS & DB that we've used for certification - which is a full Oracle Stack considering that we're running on Oracle Cloud.

However, you will be supported as long as you run on an OS that's supported by PPM (on-prem) and also supported by the cloud provider that you're using. So if Windows Server 2022 is supported by Oracle Cloud, no problem to run PPM on it.

That being said, even if we have no plan to stop supporting windows server as an Operating System for PPM, I still find it a peculiar choice to decide to go with a windows Server while using Oracle Cloud - Linux expertise is expected to be available in an Oracle-centric environment.
