Error when trying to record script in VUGEN - NOT PROXIED! (REASON: Unable to connect to remote server) - no script recording

Hi

I've used VUGEN multiple times with no issues. I've setup the webtours demo project on a separate machine and I am trying to record a script to do some basic operations. ( I was able to record this a while back , no issues)

the webtours page is not loading. Please note the following

(1) I can open webtours application just fine, if I am not in Vugen

(2) I can playback old script I have accessing the webtours server just fine

(3) The issue is only when I am recording , it just doesn't open webtour application, see below , it is like it is blocked

I made sure all my recording options were set to default

after trying to record Vugen says :

Please note if I change recording option to "winsocket" the webtours application will load but the script being recorded will be blank ...nothing gets recorded

Hi Mai, you might Checkout Recording Options -> HTTP Properties -> Advanced -> Proxy recording settings.

Lookup Windows error 10061. There are many causes in general.

I would do a wireshark recording of the network traffic. You might observe how LR tries to connect to the application in all details. (compare to successful replay).

Are you using 2023R1? There are already two patches for VuGen / LRP. I've experienced a bad certificate while recording (but only at one application and intermittent), solved by installing a VuGen patch.

    hi

    I am using Vugen 2021 build 317 and LRE version 2021 R2

I found out how to fix the issue, I need to record the script as an admin user. The strange thing is that I never needed to do that before. Now it just doesn't allow me to record the script if  I  am not an admin user. although I am able to playback fine as a non-admin user

any idea why that is the case ?

    thanks

    Mai

Hi Mai, no not sure. But it might have to do with Windows security, Windows policies enforced by your company etc. Running Vugen as Admin is one of the things you can try indeed. Good catch!.
