Automate OPLG(On premise Load Generator) configuration Tool setup for on-demand OPLG use

Currently there is documentation available to perform silent OPLG (On-premise Load Generation) installation i.e. https://admhelp.microfocus.com/lrc/en/2021.04/Content/Storm/OPLG.htm .

However, there is a need to automate OPLG setup beyond install i.e. OPLG Configuration tool. After installation, user has to setup values manually for different Keys on OPLG-Configuration Tool on General, Misc & Options tabs. Ex. on General tab--> Key, User Name, password, Tenant ID ; on Misc tab --> Proxy, Server, Log level ; on Options tab --> Name-value pairs.

Automating OPLG configuration tool will allow the customers to spin-up & tear-down Cloud-based OPLGs on an on-demand basis, otherwise, the Cloud-based OPLG has to be ON, even if there are no Performance Tests running.

The first option includes a practice you can follow when attempting to silently install OPLG on a machine that does not have OPLG already installed and the second bullet explains that the upgrade of an existing OPLG can be fully automated.

An enhanced solution for the first option (silent install on a machine that does have OPLG installed on) is being worked on.

Maintenance of OPLGs is still a manual task. Automation capabilities will definitely reduce this overhead.

Through Automation of OPLG configuration and LR-Cloud Public API, LoadRunner-Cloud adoption can be enhanced and taken closer to the Development & DevOps communities for Performance Test design, develop & execute as shift-left activities. Also, for clients who are NOT able to leverage MicroFocus-SaaS LGs due to Security and compliance reasons, automation of OPLG setup allows to implement one of the 5-pillars of aws-Well Architected Framework i.e. Cost Optimization and spin-up & tear-down OPLG on an on-demand basis.
