LRE SaaS - Reports Enhancement - Missing Data

Status: Needs Clarification

Reports generated to show activity by users has been found to be missing a large volume of data. Data from tests manually started by users can be found in the report for those users, but if a user has created a scheduled timeslot for a test to auto-start the data from these tests is attributed back to the system user, '_pc_system_'. No information for this user is available to include into the report.

After users noticed a significant portion of their activity was missing from the report, we manually collated as much information as possible from historical test runs etc., and discovered that over 50% of our test activity had been attributed to the system user.

We would like to see the test run data from scheduled tests attributed back to the person who created the timeslot, rather than being lost from reports by being attributed to _pc_system_ user, allowing for an accurate user report to be generated in LRE.

  • Hi Brian,

We could not reproduce in another SaaS environment. Please raise this as a support case and ask to be elevated to R&D, with all the details including event log of one of these runs and the resource by user report..

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Brian,

Thanks for the updates. I will try to understand what is the difference in the flow that I did on my environment and the one on SaaS that you describe above. Will update shortly.

    Best regards,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul, yes we've moved up to to 24.3, I just checked the System Reports section to see if the missing info has appeared, unfortunately not.

The issue is primarily on the Reports by User subsection, this currently only shows data collated from tests that individual users have manually started. As all auto-start tests are handled by the _pc_system_ user, all data from those is not attributed back to the real user who created the auto-start timeslot. And there's no way to add the _pc_system_ user's info into the report, only real users are shown in there.

As the majority of my tests run overnight and at weekends, most are set to automatically start, therefore over half of my test activity is hidden when my manager generates a user report.

To replicate, create a timeslot for a test, set it to start automatically, then look at the test event logs post-test to see that _pc_system_ was responsible for starting the test, then go to System Reports -> Reports by User, filter for day of test, and you should see that you are missing data from this test.

    Thanks,

    Brian

  • Thanks JHF, we're using LoadRunner Enterprise, but was given link to this area by OT reps, thanks!

  • Hi Brian,

Since I understand your LRE SaaS environment got upgraded to LRE 24.3, please let me know if the issue is the same. I checked my own environment and I can't reproduce it. Or perhaps I misunderstood the requirements.

    Thanks,

    Paul
