Sync Test Cases with Steps from ALM to Azure DevOps

I'm attempting to demo this sync functionality & I can get the Test Cases & Descriptions to sync, but I'm having issues with steps as they're not moving over

Using a base Agile process template in Azure DevOps for this to keep things simple, and ALM 12.21

I setup mapping of type Test in ALM to Test Case in Azure.

I have a mapping of the ALM field Steps to the Azure field Steps, but after sync they're blank always.

I do see I can setup a mapping of type Design Step from ALM to *something* in DevOps, but nothing seems right / I'd have no idea how to connect them to the correct test case. Any help here would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi....I maybe trying a similar sync in the near future but right now I am only working with Requirements and Defect...if I do Test Cases and figure anything out I will add a post here if it helps you have are still stuck.

    Good evening Chris & Howard,

We will test this out and post a response.

In the interim, please go ahead and open a support incident to track the case, so you will get a response that way as well.

    Take care

    Thanks,

Currently what seems to be happening syncing Steps to Steps is ALM is returning a count of how many steps it has and inserting that into the "Steps" field of Azure DevOps which is entirely worthless.

Azure seems to store steps like this

    <DIV><DIV><P>step 1<BR/></P></DIV></DIV><P>result 1<BR/></P><DIV><P>step 2<BR/></P></DIV><P>result 2<BR/></P><DIV><DIV><P><BR/></P></DIV></DIV><DIV><P><BR/></P></DIV>

I suppose I could write some code to write the design steps out like that to a memo field and then sync the memo field to Azure step fields, but that seems like a ridiculous work around for something that should be out of the box simple

Just to update this topic with the official Response from Micro Focus following a bug to their Dev team

    "Hi Chris,

Apologies for the delay. I have been researching this with development and unfortunately at present there is no way to synchronise the Test Steps between ALM and Azure Devops. The ‘Steps’ field in ALM is an integer and actually refers to the number of steps. There is no way to expose the test steps description in the API. I will bring this up in the next development meeting to see if this is something that we can possible add at a later date."

    Hullo,

No, we do not yet support Tests or Test Cases in ALM/QC

    Hi All,

Is there an update to support tests or test cases in ALM Octane with the latest version of the connector?

We need test cases synchronization from ALM Octane to Azure DevOps.

    Thanks

    Ramn

This is not currently supported and not a focus area.

Any update on Test case with steps synchronization between ALM/QC and Azure DevOps? Does Micro Focus plan to implement that function to Connect Core in near future?

    Hi Bogdan,

This Enhancement Request is in the Connect Backlog.

I do not have a delivery timeline

    Take care
