OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise CE 24.1 has been released!

by   in DevOps Cloud

We’re happy to let you know that we just released OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise CE 24.1

In this release our team focused on several areas of the product so that the users can take advantage of a wide variety of new features and benefits, including better user experience, protocol and scripting updates, integrations, security, and infrastructure. All the content has been carefully designed and selected to ensure we secure our position as leaders in the market, with updated support for the latest technologies and markets trends, delivering innovation while we listen to our customers’ requests, helping them to achieve their goals.

We are glad to inform you that OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise CE 24.1 supports the addition of disruption events from chaos engineering platforms to your performance tests. Now you have the ability to observe how your system responds under stress and incorporate simulated attacks from the Steadybit platform. The simulated attacks can be on different technologies and components, for example, databases, web servers, CPU or memory.

An attack generally impacts the regular workflow, limiting responses or reducing performance. For example, the web server may work slower than usual, and there may be fewer successful transactions. You can compare responses when running your performance test without attacks, and running when the system is stressed.

Following our investments in the integrations and ecosystem category, we listened to you and implemented the IPv6 for communication with the database, controllers, load generators, and MI Listener. This will address the shortage of IPv4 addresses, which eventually also forced some external service vendors to start charging their customers for public IPv4 addresses. Hence, we are committed to assisting you in making a smooth transition to IPv6 communication in your load testing production environments.

You will constantly see us improving our features for containerization, which will reduce your TCO. In this release we added an option to specify the user ID to provide the security permissions for a certain container or pod within the Kubernetes feature.

Nowadays, high security standards and procedures are a must for every company. Knowing that our OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise administrators need to change application passwords frequently to prevent security issues, we implemented an automated solution for that. REST APIs are now supported for updating passwords in various LoadRunner Enterprise components and configuration tools. This lets you change passwords easily, with minimal user intervention, even via CI/CD pipelines.

Another great piece of news in the security and infrastructure section is that OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise CE 24.1 now supports working on a FIPS enabled environment. We followed the Federal Information Processing Standards Publication, FIPS 140-2, to specify the security requirements that will be satisfied by a cryptographic module utilized within a security system. This will continue to give confidence to the federal government departments and agencies, and to all our customers, that we continue to invest in security requirements.

To reduce the risk of credential-based attacks, OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise’s built-in authentication now includes user lockout settings. These settings let you determine how many unsuccessful login attempts are allowed within a specified time frame before a user is locked out. We also added an option to limit authentication to protect against brute‑force attacks.

Our protocol and scripting updates in this release focused on a new no code/low code script generator tool that helps create and update Cloud for AWS scripts. You will see also the usual browser updates for TruClient and several enhancements for different protocols like .Net+, DevWeb, Citrix, Web, and SAP. For more details please check the VuGen, protocols, and LoadRunner Developer section.

We are committed to deliver a remarkable experience for the performance engineering market and we love to partner with our customers, hence why we ask you to continue submitting your ideas for the product on the OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise Idea Exchange page and get the community feedback as well.
